One- linear defects: dislocations (edge, screw, mixed)
In linear defects groups of atoms are in irregular positions. Linear defects are commonly called
dislocations. The dislocations significantly affecting the mechanical properties of solid material.
There are two basic types of dislocations, the edge dislocation and the screw dislocation. "Mixed" dislocations, are also common.
a- Edge dislocations occur when an extra plane is inserted. The dislocation line is at the end of the plane. In an edge dislocation, the Burgers vector is perpendicular to the dislocation line
