Diffraction of waves by crystal, and Bragg law
We study crystal structure through the diffraction of photons (X-rays), electrons, and neutrons.
The diffraction is depends on the crystal structure and on the wavelength .
When the wavelength of the radiation is comparable with or smaller than the lattice constant ,the diffracted beams are found.
Note: The wavelength of the photons in the X-ray , in which the diffraction is obtained is in the range of 0.5-2 A0.
W,L Bragg presented a simple explanation of the diffracted beams from the crystal. He suggested that the diffracted beams are found when the reflection from parallel planes of atoms interfere constructively
